Hi Scott & Tracey, I am so glad that Colby came out of the surgery feeling better and more alert. I remember when my son Urian had his shunt surgery at 6mo old, my wife and I thought of how this little boy was going to handle all this, but you know what...kids are so resiliant. As I mentioned to you on Friday, my son now is 7yrs old and he's doing great. That Friday, we were at the hospital because of the stomach bug and he had been vomiting a lot and as you know, vomiting is or might be a sign of a shunt malfunction. Thank God, this was just a virus. He is back in school today. I checked out your blog and read the stories and your son looks amazing. God Bless Him!! Don't forget what I told you about the support group that we are trying to put together along with 3 other families with kids with hydrocephalus so please stay in touch. My email address is Mejia_m@yahoo.com so feel free to contact me whenever you can.
This story is written from a dad's perspective. We went through infertility for 4 years before we found out we were pregnant with twins in March of 2007. Life dealt us an unexpected hand when Colby and Avery came 3 ½ months early due to PROM of twin A. I started this blog to keep friends and family up to speed on the happenings during our NICU experience. However I’ve been amazed at the interest and support that has come from family, friends and complete strangers. I am moved by the connection that people feel toward our situation and to hear the stories of how our story has in some way helped others through difficult times.
Thank you all for your support and compassion during our journey. I hope one day for Colby to be able to read this and know the impact he’s had and the amount of people he had supporting him.
